Historic Thanksgiving
Signature Event!
Spend
the afternoon watching outdoor
Colonial and Native American cookery
and even an optional turkey
processing demonstration to learn
how this prized bird goes from field
to table. Tractor wagon rides around
the farm, seasonal crafts and games,
along with a scarecrow making
activity, will keep the children
entertained. The concession stand
will be serving up fall favorites,
like our delicious beef stew,
pumpkin muffins, hot cider and more.
Come
inside and warm up by the fire as we
prepare seasonal fare on our 19th
century open hearth. Families can
try their hand at churning butter
and whipping cream or helping the
cooks make a batch of buttermilk
biscuits. Samples of scrumptious
foods and tales of the Remick Family
will delight you, as you meander
through two floors of historic
exhibits. The second floor, Dr.
Edwin and Marion Remick’s original
apartment, will showcase a typical
1940’s style Thanksgiving Dinner,
special displays and samples of
homemade goodies, including Marion
Remick’s famous apple butter.
The
historic Captain Enoch Remick House
will come alive as cooks fire up the
Glenwood stove and bake traditional
Thanksgiving dishes for sampling.
There will be special exhibit on
root cellaring and seasonal cooking
along with guided tours of the home
and Doctors’ office. Stop by the
Cider House on the way by and try
your hand at apple cider pressing
and sample fresh cider.
Admission: $5 per person, children
ages 4 and under free. *Additional
costs at the concession stand. For
our complete Thanksgiving dinner,
please sign up for the Early
Bird Turkey Dinner on November
19th.
